On Friday, October 28th, Chris and Colin Soucy graciously bedecked their beautiful home on Mill Creek in ghoulish gear to welcome Club Members to a fabulous Halloween Happy Hour(s).  Members arrived in all manner of creative costumes from skeletons, sponges, witches, and kitties to Ravenettes and Rastas to the ever eponymous.  Our hosts provided delicious Ghoulish Gruel and aptly presented Lady Fingers complemented by wacky Witches Brew.  Members again contributed favorite appetizers and treats.  First prize was shared by Candy Wilson, with a ghostly-fashioned wurst spread and Shay Collins, who proved her cake-decorating skills with a mask almost too perfect to eat.  Many thanks to Colin and Chris for inviting us in and to all Members who came and contributed.  Another successful BCYC event…no one wanted the evening to end.

Karen and Bill Kranzer hosted the “Flannel and Denim Fall Festival” on Weems Creek on October 22nd.  Fall colors, crisp air and the crunch of fallen leaves set the stage for the array of autumn festivities arranged by our talented hosts.  Pumpkin carving, scarecrow stuffing, candy corn-counting and punkin’-chuckin’  brought lots of laughs.  As always, the BYO Appetizers were stellar, with first prize going to the Flemings, whose huge display of ‘pate, and cheeses, olives and more’ overwhelmed all.  Members feasted on three varieties of delicious home-made chili with all the fixings, roasted weenies on the campfire followed by buttery apple cake, s’mores by the roaring campfire and hot mulled cider.  A birthday cake celebrating Jo Rys and Guy Collins added to the calorie count.  As the evening wound down, members enjoyed the warmth of the glowing fire under a star-lit sky, with the subtle sounds of… flarping in the breeze.  A great time was had by all, and a big round of applause goes to party-planners extraordinaire, Karen and Bill, and everyone who contributed time, energy and resources to this fine event.

Check out the great pictures of the BCYC 2011 Crab Feast on the BCYC Pictures of Past Events tab!  Thanks to Mary Ross, our Photo Editor, there's a great slide show--she even got a picture of Commodore Bill presenting a "new member" packet to our newest member Ruth Connell.  It may have been chilly, windy and rainy, but that doesn't stop BCYC from having fun Up the Creek!

Gordon and I weren't there this year, but from everything we've heard it was a wonderful time.  There were as many as 50 BCYC-ers at some of the events, and nearly everybody got their payments in to me (as Treasurer) on time.  Thank you!
