Karen and Bill Kranzer hosted the “Flannel and Denim Fall Festival” on Weems Creek on October 22nd. Fall colors, crisp air and the crunch of fallen leaves set the stage for the array of autumn festivities arranged by our talented hosts. Pumpkin carving, scarecrow stuffing, candy corn-counting and punkin’-chuckin’ brought lots of laughs. As always, the BYO Appetizers were stellar, with first prize going to the Flemings, whose huge display of ‘pate, and cheeses, olives and more’ overwhelmed all. Members feasted on three varieties of delicious home-made chili with all the fixings, roasted weenies on the campfire followed by buttery apple cake, s’mores by the roaring campfire and hot mulled cider. A birthday cake celebrating Jo Rys and Guy Collins added to the calorie count. As the evening wound down, members enjoyed the warmth of the glowing fire under a star-lit sky, with the subtle sounds of… flarping in the breeze. A great time was had by all, and a big round of applause goes to party-planners extraordinaire, Karen and Bill, and everyone who contributed time, energy and resources to this fine event.
