We had Brunch with John’s Granddaughter, daughter in law and her parents.  We visited Edison and Fords winter compound. Very interesting...we learned Edison was a mentor for Ford 16 years his junior, encouraged him to start Ford Motor Co.  When Edison’s lab burned down Ford built him anew one.   Edison had 1,290 patents, things such as waffle Iron, curling irons, etc. and he was instrumental in starting General Electric with other investors. When he died he was trying to find an alternative to Rubber which was just before WW2. Well worth the days visit.

Tuesday, March 20   -   Pelican Key, Port Charlotte Florida
We followed the Crum line going out, made it to the Gulf in an hour and a half. The day was the same as the two before not much to see except, we could see Captive and Sanibel most of the day not much from 3 miles out. We started in the channel to Fort Meyers and arrived about 4 PM.  The strangest thing in the middle of the channel is a lump and it is too shallow to pass thru.  The boats travel down the sides and mooring balls are in the middle, for power boats.  Made it into our slip and tied up with no complications about 4PM took shore shower and had a drink on Harmony. We watched the sunset at the "Big Game Water Front Grill", there are 2 restaurants here and the other "Parrot Key Caribbean Grill" was very  crowded and noisie, also could not see the sunset from there. The tired crew retired for the evening.

    Monday, March 19,
Another beautiful day on the Gulfy, Otter Key, Sarasota Bay

We were up early we had to thread our way thru the Big Sarasota Pass, very shallow on the right side had to hug the left shore.  We could see waves breaking and pelicans sitting on the shoal, we were glad to get out of there. The day was quiet except for dodging Crab pots but we did get some sail up.  The sky was a lighter blue and the clouds looked like puffs of cotton, combined with the aqua water made for a day that dreams are made of.
The channel going into our nest destination was very long and hard to find the deep water that continued in the anchorage where we only had 5 feet under I keel most of the time and did see 3.9 a few times. When the anchor was down we give a sigh of relief. Lovely Sunset dinner was had by all the crew. The wind switch to the east during the night (as predicted) we had some wind but the anchor held on the nice sandy bottom.

Sunday, March 18th, John’s Pass, Treasure Island

Left John’s Pass about 10:15, Joe and Arlene came by to say good by and Joe took Pictures, went thru the bridge to a beautiful aqua Green Ocean, the sky was a beautiful azure blue with white whipped cream clouds everywhere. We had a good sail down to Sarasota, found a great anchorage with lovely houses on one side and mangroves on the other, very protected from all sides, I like that.  I have Pictures If I can get them Posted.  Check My Face book Page

    Treasure Island Florida

For the next two weeks I did boat work and Played.  I went to a Fashion Show put on by Macy’s and the Chamber, an Art opening, and a Parrott Head concert with Jamie and Lisa. Brunches with Annapolis friends I went to visit my friend Sally S in Englewood for an overnight and we met Jamie and some friends for dinner, that GPS took me right to Sally’s door and to the restaurant.

In between the fun I stripped paint, sanded the top step and companion way rails of Harmony and painted them with polyurethane.  I did 10 loads of Laundry, Cleaned bilges, sorted clothing, made beds, JJ & Juliana stopped by to spent the night on Harmony on their way from Captiva to the Auto Train.  We had dinner and breakfast at Gators just a short walk away. Good to see them looking forward to seeing all of the BCYC’ers.

John arrived back to Harmony on Monday and we did more of the same getting ready to take off heading south to the Keys.

Lantana Loggerhead Marina, spent the day doing more errands and walking for exercise.
Tackled more cabins to make sure everything is clean, after our meldew scare.
left a few minutes to do some laps in the beautiful pool,  not every marina has a pool large enough to do laps, it felt great!  We had meat Loaf for dinner and  We crashed early because we havea big day ahead of us tomorrow.

Thank you loyal readers, I am a little computer challenged and having trouble switching from one computer to another.  I am using my friend Arlene's computer, trying to cut and paste but having trouble, it is not being kind to me.  I will now just type everything on the sight as I go.  Be patient with me as I learn PLEASE. John’s Pass, Treasure Island, Florida

For those of you who do not know John had to go home for a family emergency so we drove to the Air Port dropped John off. Of course I tried to get fancy and find a new way back to Treasure Island,  naturally I was hopelessly lost but I am a woman, I asked direction, 3 times, made it in time for dinner.  I will never forget the GPS again.
